Sprung from Inactivity

Ok, so I started a blog. Why? Well, let's just say that this summer I've found that I have a bit of spare time. Actually, that would be the understatement of the century. I have A LOT of time.
I finished my school term a week ago and I immediately flew out to Taipei, Taiwan, where my parents are living at the moment. Sounds exotic and interesting enough, right?
I certainly thought so. Taiwan, in my mind, equaled free rent, free food (sometimes… and if not, it is good authentic Chinese food), rest and relaxation, exotic travel and sightseeing. And in theory, this should be the case.

Unfortunately, since I’ve arrived, my inability to speak Chinese has somehow managed to overwhelm my desires to explore and walk around in the sun. I’ve traveled by myself before, I’m twenty-one, I shouldn’t need my parents to take me around… but I do... Really, I do! That’s at least what my body's been telling me; my body's been heavy and in a pathetically lethargic state for the past five days. I wish I could contribute my sluggishness to something— a need to recover from a heavy college work load, a fear of getting run over by aggressive Taiwanese motorists, or an anxiety of getting lost without having any money or knowing the language— but, alas, in all honesty it’s just sluggishness, in its pure and absolute meaning.

So, I’ve decided to do something about it. Well, I’ve at least thought about deciding. And I figure this is the first step. If I announce my indolence to the world, maybe, I’ll feel enough shame to get up on my feet…

I'm guessing the "inactivity" has ended. :) I was excited to read about your travels, etc. But if you're busy now then that's a good thing, too.
